Baby Shower Planning

Baby shower themes help create a beautiful setting for a baby shower. Baby shower themes allow for ideas, games, and baby shower favors to be used which makes baby shower planning much easier.

When deciding what baby shower theme to use, you should take into consideration the parents to be, what do they like or how are they decorating the baby’s nursery?

Choosing to use the baby’s nursery decor as a building block for a baby shower theme is always a wonderful and useful idea.

Some baby shower themes that can be used are:

Storybook Shower Theme.

Having guests each bring their favortie children’s storybook for a baby gift, you can put labels or plates on the inside of the books (but do that last to make sure there are no duplicates) telling who the book is from and why it’s their favorite, this is a great way to help the new parents start their baby’s library.

Couples Shower Theme

This is great if you do not want the traditional baby shower, you can have games that couples play together such as baby bottle racing (fill baby bottle equally with your choice of liquid and race to the finish) or the crawling race, ( where participants have to crawl back and forth while carrying and passing things from their mouths to their partner). These do not require the usual baby decorating, but something like a cookout would be a great touch.

Noah’s Ark Baby Shower Theme

Each guest is asked to bring two very small animals to be placed in an ark, which is a baby’s bathtub. An ark shape has been made to go around the tub so it can’t be seen. These animals will help decorate the baby’s nursery. This is especially good if the baby’s nursery decor is going to be Noah’s Ark. You can also use this same basic idea for Winnie the Pooh or any nursery theme.

Casserole Shower Theme

This is a great shower theme for the mom-to-be who already has most baby products. Each guest is asked to bring a casserole that can be frozen and reheated. This is great for after the baby is born and the new mom won’t have to cook, giving her time to spend with her family.

Video Baby Shower

This is great if mom-to-be doesn’t live near her family. You mail out invitations and plan a shower just as if she were there. On the day of the shower, you play games, have lunch, or whatever, then choose someone to open the gifts all the while having someone video tape the shower activities. When it is over, pack up everything (including the video) and mail it off to the new mom-to-be.

So as you can see, baby shower themes can be anything that you think the new mom-to-be will like, and you’re only limited by your imagination.
