One of the biggest hassles for an expectant mother is the constant changes in her body. Not only does it make it difficult for her to walk and balance, give her backaches, cause mood swings, and all kinds of other problems, but pregnancy also makes her clothes not fit right. When my wife was pregnant with our first child, she told me all about it. Every time that she found some affordable maternity clothes that fit her, she would outgrow them. It seemed that, almost every month, she was looking for new maternity clothes affordable.

If we had not found affordable maternity clothing to wear, that baby would have bankrupted us before he was even born. My wife is not a very vain person, but she does like to look presentable. She was willing to make certain sacrifices in the name of finding affordable maternity clothes, but she would not wear some of those awful circus-tent-style maternity outfits that some women resort to. Her demand for affordable maternity clothes that at least did not make her look like a monument meant that we were almost constantly shopping. It was a hassle for both of us.
 
One of the biggest problems with trying to find affordable maternity clothes is that there are no real standards. Almost every single brand of motherhood maternity clothes has a different sizing standard. In one place, she would have to buy plus size women’s clothing, while in another store, she would be subjected to a whole new sizing standard especially designed for pregnant women. No matter where she looked, there was a baffling variety of affordable maternity clothes, and none of them looked all that good.

Finally, she had to find one particular store that she liked and stick with it. There was really no other choice. You can get affordable maternity clothes almost everywhere, but when you find a store that sells motherhood clothing that does not look like a glorified potato sack, you stick with it. In the end, it was a local clothier who won her favor. From the day we discovered him until the day that she gave birth, we bought all of our affordable maternity clothes in that boutique. By that point, we were happy just to be able to find clothing that worked. It was a little bit more expensive, but it was worth it to us. After all, it made her pregnancy a little bit easier.
